The RMA project was initially discussed in response to concerns raised by NZBCSD members that the RMA was, in some cases, a hindrance to smooth effective business in New Zealand.

The objective of this project was to seek improvements to help the RMA to achieve its fundamental purpose. This included:

working with stakeholders to identify how business and others can streamline the RMA process in a manner that is consistent with sustainable development.

identifying roadblocks in the RMA process and solutions to these - from a business perspective.
