We have experience guiding companies through Landcare Research’s carboNZero programme and we work closely with our clients to reduce their carbon footprints. The up-side of this environmental consciousness is an increase in staff retention, reduced operating costs and new product and market development opportunities.

Our Sustainability Story
Wright Communications is actively participating in Landcare Research’s carboNZero programme. We have measured and reduced our greenhouse gas emissions in respect of our communications consultancy operations.
Involvement with the carboNZero programme centred on taking responsibility for our own carbon footprint so it can be actively managed going forward.
Many of our clients are also pursuing carbon neutrality, so it was essential to understand the process first hand. Having completed the programme, we are in a strong position to share our understanding and assist clients with reduction strategies and reporting requirements.
Some of our own actions through the programme have included:
 | Purchasing a low-emission Smart car for staff travel to client meetings. |

 | Setting up a Navman inside the Smart car to help us ascertain the quickest route to each meeting to ensure the smallest amount of fossil fuels are used for each trip. |

 | Turning computers and office equipment to stand-by mode at the end of each business day. |

 | Appointing a sustainability strategist to assist our clients and our own business. |
|
 | Joining the Sustainable Business Network, New Zealand Business Council for Sustainable Development and more recently, the UNEP Climate Neutral Network. |

 | Using a printer that is ENERGY STAR certified and has several features that helps our team conserve resources including: duplex printing and the utilisation of draft printing mode to save ink and paper. |

 | Recycling newspapers, office documents, used toner cartridges, mobile phones, and glass and plastics. |
